How to Get Your Baby’s Sleep Back on Track After a Holiday Weekend

ree

Holiday weekends are all about family, fun, and making memories—but let’s be honest, they can also bring late bedtimes, skipped naps, and unpredictable schedules. If your baby’s sleep got a little off-track over Memorial Day weekend, you’re not alone—and the good news is, getting back on schedule is totally doable with a little consistency and patience.

Here’s how to reset your baby’s sleep after a busy few days:

1. Get Back to Your Routine ASAP

Babies thrive on predictability. As soon as the festivities end, return to your usual nap and bedtime routines. That might include a bath, books, feeding, and a calming song. The more familiar the routine, the faster your baby will settle back in.

2. Start With Bedtime

If your baby is overtired from missed naps, you might be tempted to let them stay up later—but resist that urge. Aim for an earlier bedtime for a few nights to help them catch up on lost sleep and avoid getting overtired.

3. Limit Extra Stimulation

After an exciting weekend, babies can be a bit overstimulated. Keep the environment calm and quiet before sleep. Dim lights, soft voices, and gentle play can help signal that it’s time to wind down.

4. Be Patient and Consistent

It might take a day or two (or three) for your little one to fully readjust. Stay consistent with wake times, naps, and bedtime. If you’re consistent, your baby will usually settle back into their normal rhythm quickly.

5. Watch for Sleep Cues

Look for early signs of tiredness—rubbing eyes, yawning, zoning out—and get your baby down before they become overtired. An overtired baby often has a harder time falling and staying asleep.

Don’t stress over a few off days—sleep disruptions are normal during holidays. With a little structure and love, your baby’s sleep will bounce back. And if you need a little extra help, I’m here to guide you every step of the way!
